How signing in works in Step, and how Step stores your credentials in Apple Keychain.
1 min read
Step is a Chromium browser, so signing in to a website works exactly like Chrome or Brave. Step stores credentials and passkeys in your Apple Keychain by default.
Steps
Open the site you want to use
Type the address in the URL bar or pick a bookmark. Step loads the site in the active tab.
Sign in normally
Use the site's sign-in form. Step offers to save your password the first time you submit it.
Choose where to save
Step stores passwords in Apple Keychain by default. You can also keep a per-Space credential set in Settings → Passwords.
Use it on the next launch
Step autofills the saved login on the next visit. If you use a passkey, Step pulls it from Keychain just like Safari does.
