Steps
Reserve your access
Step is in private beta. Reserve your spot on the download page. We send the install link the moment your spot is ready.
Download the .dmg
Open the email we send and click the download link. The build is a signed and notarized .dmg file, around 200 MB.
Open the .dmg and drag Step to Applications
Double-click the .dmg, drag the Step icon onto the Applications shortcut, and wait for the copy to finish. Eject the .dmg.
Launch Step
Open Applications and double-click Step. macOS may ask for confirmation since the developer is new to your machine. Click Open. Step starts in your default Space.
Sign in to your favorite sites
Step is built on Chromium so the experience is familiar. Sign in to your usual sites or import your data from Chrome (see the import guide).
Requirements
- macOS 14 Sonoma or newer
- Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) or Intel 64-bit
- Around 200 MB of disk space
If macOS blocks the launch
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and approve Step Browser at the bottom of the page. Then relaunch.
